About My Work
To me, the only thing better than a good story is a wonderful cookie to pair with it.
I aim to create worlds where children feel invited to explore, question, and discover.
For younger readers, that means meeting them:
— before the world tells them what they can and cannot do
— before they hear that their ideas don’t matter.
— before they begin telling themselves that math is too hard or reading is boring.
Every kid deserves to be seen, heard, curious, brave, and connected. Story is one of the strongest ways to empower somebody. When I reflect on my life and the people who influenced me, it’s truly their story that has the staying power.
My goal is to create stories that not only entertain people but maybe inspire them to have that “ah ha” moment.
Currently, my work involves creative nonfiction books about math and middle-grade mysteries. The Secret to Math series will be my first completed work. I am currently working on completing The Point Academy. I am actively seeking representation for my work.
About Me
I built my first world before I could write my name.
Being the youngest sibling and shortest cousin in a large, boisterous family made me feel unseen and powerless. Eventually, I learned that my words had power. I am not athletic, and quickly learned that playing football with my cousins really wasn’t my thing. Instead, I told stories. I built imaginary lands where, with the swipe of my hand and a whisper of a word, my audience was mine to play with, either as a hero or a victim left stranded in the Rainbow Forest.
With the help of my great Scrabble nemesis, Grandma Mildred, I began writing my adventures on notepads.
I entered college with one dream in mind: to be a scriptwriter for Sesame Street.
“Why Sesame Street?” my mother had asked me.
“Because I want kids to have fun as they learn,” I said.
Life has a funny way of leading some of us along the scenic route to our goals. Wouldn’t you agree?
I have a vocational diploma in Medical Assisting, an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts, and I am pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in English/Creative Writing. I am a member of the English honor society Sigma Tau Delta and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
I am a proud New Yorker who has lived in every region of the Empire State. Born in Buffalo, NY, I am a Bills fan and self-proclaimed chicken wings and cookie connoisseur. I’m a younger sister and the cool aunt. Only two rules at “Auntie Angi’s”: No ER visits, and you have to read while you’re here; nearly everything else is game.
As the proud wife of an active-duty member of Space Force (yes, it is a real branch), a mom to a little girl who keeps me laughing, and a roommate of two cats, I never know what problem I’ll need to solve on any given day.
My family and I now reside wherever his orders take us.
Disclaimer
I am not an educator or a mathematician. My nonfiction series is based on true childhood stories retold through the frame of a math lesson. My philosophy on math is research-based. For more information on the resources I used, please refer to my Resources page in the Library section.
Happy Reading!
